WHAT IS THE LANGUAGE ACCESS HEALTH
PROJECT?
| The Language Access Health
Project offers translation and interpretation services in all languages
to service providers and their non-English and limited English speaking
clients who are living with HIV. The program is the result of a

WHAT SERVICES ARE
PROVIDED?
Oral Interpretation: One-on-one
interpretation services are offered to facilitate communication between
service providers and non/limited English speaking clients living with
HIV. This includes (but is not limited to) case managers, physicians,
and other social service providers.
Interpretation is also offered in a group setting for workshops and
information sharing sessions that have a direct or indirect benefit to
the participants.

used to translate HIV/AIDS information, agency forms or documentation
into a clients preferred language. Translation is offered to service
providers who have non/limited English speaking clients living with HIV.
Training: Training
on how to use interpretation services is available to providers who
serve non/ limited English speaking clients. Issues of cross-cultural
communication and cultural sensitivity are also addressed. Training is
free of charge and generally on-site.

project also manages a resource library of translated materials, such as
HIV/AIDS and other related health literature, and generic intake forms
gathered from HIV/AIDS organizations and previous translation jobs. |
Anybody can request these materials free of charge by calling ASIAC.
Materials can also be accessed and downloaded through the Language
Access Health Project website, www.asiac.org/lahp.htm (beginning
