| ASIAC thanks Mark Segal and the dmhFund for their generous support of our services. The Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld Fund awarded ASIAC a $5,000 LGBT Community Service Grant last night at an event at the William Way Community Center. This grant will support our Education Materials and Research. Asians & Pacific Islanders (A&PI) have the highest rate of increase in new HIV infections in the nation and still have a relatively low prevalence rate. This means that we have an opportunity to prevent an emergency among the A&PI population if we act now to raise awareness among this largely non-English speaking population. The dmhFund grant will support our efforts to do this through education events that will introduce anti-stigma messages created around the country for the past 20 years targeting A&PI language speakers. Additionally, this grant will also support activities related to our ongoing Philadelphia A&PI HIV Needs Assessment. These events will take place leading up to and around May 19th which is National A&PI HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead. Help us to change the world.
