Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of JADED LOUNGE
Philadelphia - AIDS Services in Asian Communities (ASIAC) today
announced plans to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its unique
community event, THE JADED LOUNGE with a special show on Friday, May 11,
2007 featuring nationally recognized entertainers from Seattle, Chicago,
New York City and Philadelphia. THE JADED LOUNGE is a cabaret-style show
presented on the 2nd Friday of each month by ASIAC at the 12th Air
Command in Center City Philadelphia. The event offers a casual and
welcoming atmosphere to a diverse crowd who are entertained by lively
song, dance and game show acts that highlight HIV/STD prevention and
awareness elements.
The 10th Anniversary JADED LOUNGE party will be held on Friday, May 11,
2007 starting at 10 p.m. at the 12th Air Command located at 254 S. 12th
Street, Philadelphia. The party will feature a human buffet, an Open Bar
(10 pm – 11 pm), go-go boys, and special live performances by MaDame X
of Chicago, Arnaldo of Seattle, Jacqueline DuPree of New York City and
more. For more information about this historic celebration, call ASIAC

"THE JADED LOUNGE is the longest running community level HIV
intervention program for minorities in the Philadelphia area," said
ASIAC Executive Director Ron Sy. "Since 1997, we have been getting 300
to 500 people to each show, and in addition to having a good time, they
are educated in HIV risk reduction skills and other health information."
THE JADED LOUNGE concept has been successfully replicated in San
Francisco, Washington D.C., New York, and Boston. THE JADED LOUNGE has
received the Lambda Award for Outstanding Community and Club Event from
Philadelphia Gay News (PGN).
"Many people find out about ASIAC through THE JADED LOUNGE because it is
our most well-known program," said ASIAC Board of Directors President
Dr. Giang Nguyen. "Anyone attending THE JADED LOUNGE can also learn
about ASIAC's HIV testing, case management services, treatment adherence
programs, and our translation and interpretation services." ASIAC is the
designated provider of translation and interpretation services for all
languages including Spanish, Asian and Pacific Islander (API) languages,
European, and African languages in the greater Philadelphia metropolitan
area. All of ASIAC's services are confidential and provided free of
charge regardless of residency or immigrant status.
"I would like to thank the Philadelphia City Health Department and the
Pennsylvania State Health Department for funding THE JADED LOUNGE since
the very beginning. I also want to thank Richard McPeake, Peter Lien and
Paul Gladieux for being sponsors of the 10th Anniversary JADED LOUNGE
show" said ASIAC Executive Director Ron Sy.
ASIAC is a non-profit 501(c)3 community based organization whose mission
is to provide culturally sensitive and language appropriate HIV and
other health related services to APIs, their partners, friends, family
members, and service providers in the Philadelphia area.
